All of our signature candles are hand-poured in small batches by Emily, founder of Iris & Aura. Each candle is thoughtfully crafted with care, allowing you to purchase with confidence knowing you’re supporting a small family business and choosing an artisan, bespoke product. By working in small batches, we’re able to minimise waste and create candles with a lower environmental impact than large-scale production.

Why our candles are different.

At Iris & Aura we believe candles should feel comforting, not concerning. That’s why every Iris & Aura candle is created with intention, transparency, and care.

Many candles on the market are made with synthetic fragrances and undisclosed additives. Even those labelled as “essential oil” candles often rely on artificial fragrance bases, which don’t offer the same aromatherapeutic benefits as pure essential oils.

At Iris & Aura, we choose a slower, more mindful approach. Our candles are hand-crafted using only all-natural ingredients and fragranced exclusively with 100% pure essential oils. No synthetic fragrance. No hidden additives. Just clean, considered candlelight designed to gently scent your space.

About Emily: owner of Iris & Aura

On moving to Australia from my home hillside in Yorkshire, I was looking for a candle that was made from natural ingredients, used only pure essential oils, and with botanical, earthy scents.

Synthetic-fragranced candles irritated my body, causing headaches and itchy eyes – and the chemical fragrances were often too strong, overpoweringly sweet and being synthetic did not achieve the aromatherapy benefits I craved.

I couldn’t find what I was looking for. I didn’t want my candles to contain the lead or other metals that are commonly found in the wicks of mass-produced candles, nor use paraffin wax (a chemical derived from the petroleum industry).

That’s why I started making my own candles: using only pure cotton eco wicks, a blend of coconut wax (the purest, most eco-friendly wax on the market) with soy wax (for stability in Australia’s warm climate), and pure essential oils.

Step 1: Choose your fragrance. Do you prefer something earthy, fresh or floral? How do you want to feel? All Iris & Aura candles use only Pure Essential Oils for blends. Do you want to feel calm, relaxed, focused, energised or grounded?

Step 2. Choose whether you will buy you candles as needed, or using our handy subscription service. Save up to 10% off when you order your favourite candle on subscription, and relax knowing you’ll never run out. We also sell refills for your candle, as we believe in being eco-friendly in all our practices, and our candle vessels are designed to be reused.

Our promise

Iris & Aura candles are thoughtfully crafted with transparency, care, and safety in mind. We use only 100% pure essential oils — never synthetic fragrances or fragrance bases. Our candles are made with a natural blend of coconut and soy wax, free from paraffin and petroleum-based waxes, and finished with pure cotton eco-wicks, free from heavy metals and mercury.

Each candle is poured into a reusable glass jar, designed to be refilled and enjoyed again and again. You can purchase refills of your favourite blends in our shop, allowing you to return to the scents you love in a more mindful, low-waste way.

Not sure which fragrance is right for you? If you’re a Sunshine Coast local, you’re welcome to visit us at a local market to experience our candles in person before purchasing. If you’re choosing from afar or simply can’t decide, our Travel Trio is a beautiful way to explore a selection of blends.

Because fragrance is a personal experience, we’re unable to offer exchanges or refunds for change of mind. However, if your candle arrives damaged or with a fault, we’re happy to offer a refund or replacement in line with our Refund Policy.
