About Us: the story of Iris and Aura Essential Oil Candles

Hello! I’m Emily, owner and founder of Iris & Aura. On moving to Australia, I wanted a candle that was made from natural ingredients, used only pure essential oils for fragrance, and with botanical, earthy scents. Synthetic-fragranced candles irritated my body, causing headaches and itchy eyes – and the chemical fragrances were often too strong, overpoweringly sweet and being synthetic did not achieve the aromatherapy benefits I craved.

I couldn’t find what I was looking for. I didn’t want my candles to contain the lead or other metals that are commonly found in the wicks of mass-produced candles, nor use paraffin wax (a chemical derived from the petroleum industry).

In 2019 I started working on creating my own all-natural candles to fill this need. From my kitchen on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia, what started as a hobby has turned into a mission: to bring all natural, chemical-free, eco-friendly candles into your home.

Using only pure cotton eco wicks, a blend of coconut wax (the purest, most eco-friendly wax on the market) with soy wax (for stability in Australia’s warm climate), and pure essential oils, I have served over 8000 happy customers at markets and online. Every Iris & Aura candle is hand-poured with passion, using the methods I have perfected to produce a cruelty-free, vegan friendly and 100% Pure Essential Oil candle for your home.
